Reading Your Water Bill

This is an alert notification for the Pascoag Utility District. It can be enabled, disabled, and edited as needed.

This area includes the Statement Date which is the date the bill was sent out and the Payment Due date which is the date the bill is due. Please allow 7 days for processing, prior to the due date. The Cycle/Route is displayed to show which cycle and route your service location belongs to when it’s read each month. Pascoag Utility has seven cycles and thirty-two routes that the meter reader reads every month. This section also features your Account Number which is your personal identification number that Pascoag Utility uses to identify your service location.

The Service Summary includes your Previous Balance (anything that wasn’t paid from the previous month), Payments (payments that were made from the previous month), Balance Forward (the amount that wasn’t paid from the previous month and is being forwarded to this month’s bill) and Current Charges (your bill amount for this month). It also shows the Total Balance due with the Due Date.

This section displays your Account Number, Service Address (location where water is being used) and Service Description (if you have multiple meters at a location this will provide an additional description, for example-garage or barn). You will also see your Meter Number which is the identification number associated with your meter at your service location. The Read Type shows whether your meter was read or estimated. You will see the abbreviation Act (actual read) or Est (estimated read). This section also displays the Services From and To date, which shows the period of time when water was used and metered and how many Days were billed during that time period. You will see your Previous and Present readings which are the readings that are taken off the meter from the previous and current month. In order to calculate your Usage, the Present read is subtracted from the Previous Read to get the number of kilowatt hours you have used during the month. The Meter Multiplier is always multiplied by 1 on water meters. Meter Size represents the water meter size. Your Meter Service Charge and Fire/Hydrant Charge is based on the size of your water meter. Units are always measured in gallons.

kWh Usage History is a graph depiction of your monthly water usage over the span of a year. It also gives you the Average Daily Temperature, Average Daily Gallons usage and Average Daily Cost.

Current Service Detail-displays all the line items that make up your water bill, including the Rate for each, multiplied by your Billed Use (water usage) to get the Amount

  • Meter Service Charge – This is based on the size of the meter.
    • 5/8 inch-$11.18
    • 3/4 inch-$13.21
    • 1 inch-$14.85
    • 1 1/4 inch-$18.26
    • 1 1/2 inch-$22.13
    • 2 inch-$28.51
    • 3 inch-$36.87
    • 4 inch-$52.76
  • Fire Hydrant Charge – fire protection charge that is based on the size of the meter.
    • 5/8 inch-$1.75
    • 3/4 inch-$2.49
    • 1 inch-$3.08
    • 1 1/4 inch-$4.31
    • 1 1/2 inch-$5.71
    • 2 inch-$8.01
    • 3 inch-$11.03
    • 4 inch-$16.77
  • Water Gallon Usage-water consumption is charged at different tiers depending on your usage.
    • 1-1,247- $.001800/gallon
    • 1,248-3,740- $.002800/gallon
    • 3,741-24,936- $.005100/gallon.
    • 24,937-9999999999- $.009700/gallon.
  • Water Quality Charge – The Water Quality Charge is paid directly to the State of Rhode Island and is based on the total gallons used at the rate of 0.000292 per gallon.
  • Harrisville Surcharge – The amount charged for the total gallons used which is payable directly to the Harrisville Fire District for the purchase of water. This rate changes with each billing.
  • Infrastructure Charge-The amount charged for financing water infrastructure projects in Pascoag.
  • Service Line Insurance-An optional insurance program that insures your water service line from the curb-stop shut-off, to the water meter for $5.00 per month.
  • Summary Current Service Total- The amount you were billed for the current month.
  • Total Charges- The total amount you owe, including any unpaid balances from a previous month.

Payment Stub – This is the portion of the bill that is detached and mailed in with the check. It is important to mail your stub with your check so PUD knows which account to apply your payment to. Make sure that you use the return envelope provided w/your bill to forward your payment to the correct address for prompt credit to your account.
